That might as well be the perfect way to spend a mid-winter, mid-week hour at the office.

February 19 is the National Book Exchange Day in Armenia, a nationwide celebration dedicated to the memory of the beloved Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan.

At Synergy Armenia, February 19 is the long-awaited traditional Book-Hug Day, a perfect blend of joining the countrywide wave of paying tribute to the Hovhannes Tumanyan and showing love and care towards one another.

Over the past three years, Synergy Armenia team members have been celebrating the National Book Exchange Day with a cozy gathering around a coffee table to share a sweet moment of togetherness and books. That might as well be the perfect way to spend a mid-winter, mid-week hour at the office!

As with all things fun at Synergy Armenia, the Book-Hug started with an online survey, held back in January. The survey recorded personal book-related information that covered such questions as “Favorite book of all time” and “The book you’re planning to read next”.
Then, on February 7, there was a draw. Each individual survey finding, complete with the name of its participant, was wrapped up in a small and sweet memento (cinnamon stick and chocolate to warm up a gloomy winter afternoon!). Each participant had to take one random wrap to find out their book-buddy and to gift them a book of their choice on the Book-Hug!
On February 19, books were piling up on the coffee table, next to a delicious desert to be shared along with books and hugs. To quote one of our dear team members, Anahit Sargsyan, “The formula of an ideal life is: good friends, good books, and sweets. Synergy Book-Hug has it all. Also, the event is a wonderful opportunity to know your friends better as their personality shines through their choice of books to gift to others.”
During the Book-Hug, participants called out their book buddies, described their book of choice to gift, and passed on the turn to announce their own gift buddy. Some were introduced to new books they had not discovered yet, some connected with colleagues they had not yet had the chance to make friends with, and everyone left better-off, having built new friendships and traditions along the way.
