Thanks to the United Nations initiative Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs): Equality Means Business, Synergy will be upping its game in equality, and in particular gender equality

What Are Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)?
The 7 Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a joint initiative of the UN Women (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women) and the United Nations Global Compact. They are a set of principles to offer guidance to the private sector on how to promote gender equality and advance women’s empowerment in the workplace, the marketplace, and the community.
First launched back in March 2010 on International Women’s Day, the 7 principles of WEPs are the following:
1. Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality
2. Treat all women and men fairly at work — respect and support human rights and nondiscrimination
3. Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all women and men workers
4. Promote education, training and professional development for women
5. Implement enterprise development, supply chain and marketing practices that empower women
6. Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy
7. Measure and publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality
What does WEPs mean at Synergy?
While equality (including gender equality) has always been a core value at Synergy and part of its everyday culture, adopting the WEPs gives our company a new platform to improve the ways the company will be proactively promoting gender equality and women’s full participation and leadership.
